Abstract

The research project aims to analyze the tribological performance of volatile corrosion inhibitor applied in cutting fluids and compare them with the performance of a standard fluid. For this, an alumina ball will wear an AISI 4340 steel workpiece. This operation will be performed with the workpieces submerged in different cutting fluids to measure the coefficient of friction in each condition. Thus, the predominant wear mechanisms will be evaluated for each condition by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results will be linked to the scientific initiation research developed in Brazil by the student.
