Abstract

This project has as its purpose to identify the objectives of preservation and the refunctionalization of cultural and natural heritage in the city of Jundiaí, considering the shifts of value attribution through time, in order to analyze the heritage appropriation in the city's public image policies carried out by the municipal government - or how political power supports itself with cultural assets -, and in the spatial strategies of the real estate market. In this process, we identify three important axis of patrimonialization in the city: the symbols of national unity (churches, colonial architectures), of development (industries, railroads), up to the symbols of urban social welfare associated to the protection of the environment and the proximity with nature (natural heritage). With the identification of the main assets listed and their institutional spheres of protection, a selection of the most representative assets and their image is intended, in order to identify the main ideological, political and economic influences, be it on local, national or international levels, and the repercussion to the preservation and representation of cultural heritage in Jundiaí.
