Abstract

Planar organic hybrids, 2D systems, are strong candidates for applications in optoelectronics, catalysis, and photochemistry. In the present study, we intend to synthesize new graphitic carbon nitride, g-C3N4, based composite materials with ZnO nanoparticles, and with high thermal resistance di-sulphonic 1,4,5,8-naphthalene diimide derivatives (DN). ZnO and DN materials will be synthesized and then placed to calcine with thiourea for the formation of the hybrid system. The combination is intended to improve charge separation properties which may lead to the expansion of photochemical processes, and photo-splitting of H2O for hydrogen production. Synthesis to form the composite will be made by controlled atmosphere calcination methods. Characterizations will be made by NMR, FT-IR, XRD, UV-vis, Fluorescence and Electrochemistry, and other techniques that are necessary. (AU)
