Abstract

This project aims at determining the percentage of mineral content, organic content, and water in the dental enamel of primary teeth. This quantification is the sequence of a research line in human primary teeth. Recently the determination of such contents was carried out in teeth whose history was not known. Thus, now we will deepen the study to be able to determine the mineral, organic and water contents in the enamel of primary teeth of children born at term and prematurely. This study will use teeth that are already collected in our lab, and teeth from 15 children born pre-tern and 15 from children born prematurely will be selected. For the execution of the project, samples of primary teeth from the laboratory collection will be used, from which teeth of children with a history of full-term birth (n = 15) and others born prematurely (n = 15) will be selected. All teeth will be washed with water and hydrochloride and then cut longitudinally, is then ground with sandpaper until a thickness of 80 micrometers is reached. Under polarizing light, teeth with a well-observed neonatal line will be selected, is then photographed under polarizing and normal white light. Later they will be used for microradiography to determine the mineral, organic and water contents of dental enamel. The results obtained will be compared between the groups of children.
