Abstract

It is intended to apply the Fission Trace Method, MTF, in zircon to determine both the age and the thermal history of the basements located in the southern segment of the Brasília Belt, in the Araxá formation, located between the states of Minas Gerais and São Paulo. Additionally, the U-Pb Dating Method (LA-ICP-MS) will be applied to zircon grains collected in the study area. Thus, a set of ages via MTF and U-Pb will be obtained simultaneously on the same zircon grains. This will allow a more comprehensive geochronological study of the Bauru Group by comparing age data previously obtained in this geological unit with those to be obtained in the Araxá Formation, located in the southern segment of the Brasilia Belt. That is, a Source-Basin correlation could be made because the Brasilia Belt region can be an important drainage source that formed the Bauru Group located at north of the Paraná Basin. In order to improve the MTF and U-Pb methodologies, we also intend to study the crystallography of zircon grains separated from the Araxá formation metamorphic rocks. (AU)
