Abstract

The diagnosis of tissue damage, as well as its direct relationship with its cause, has been a challenge for vertebrate studies. In fish, this line of thought is little explored, due to the extensive tissue differences of this group compared to mammals, which have some methodologies already well described and consolidated. One way to understand the evolution of lesions may be through the exposure of a specimen to toxic agents since the development of any pathologies is directly related to the concentration of contaminant and the exposure time. Thus, this project aims to identify lesions in the white musculature of Astyanax altiparanae fish caused by the microcystin -LR toxin (common in eutrophication events) through qualitative and quantitative morphological techniques. We thus intend to obtain results that are relevant to the advancement of fish and human toxicology, considering that fish consumption is very relevant in our society, as well as assisting in the review and / or creation of new environmental.
