Abstract

The research fits into the theme of urban housing in Brazil, dealing more specifically with the territory that today comprises the Northeast of São Paulo and Southwestern Minas Gerais, which had its urban landscape marked by significant transformations and intrinsically associated with a process of intense moviment economic, political, social and cultural after the realization of the trinomial coffee-railroad and immigrant labor. It aims to identify, understand and analyze the process of materialization of the house under transformation in the cities of Caconde-SP, Casa Branca-SP, Mococa-SP, Sao Jose do Rio Pardo-SP, Guaxupé-MG and Muzambinho-MG adopting the hypothesis that The exemplars resulting from local knowledge suffered adaptations caused by a new conjuncture that affected this region in a similar way and provided conditions for the introduction and diffusion of new customs, ways of living, programs, spatializations, architectural aesthetics and construction techniques, based on what it was previously produced, in the knowledge and performance of domestic and foreign artisans and professionals. Seeks theoretical and historical support from consolidated authors, including Claudia Fonseca (2011), Lucila Brioschi (1995), Peter Burke (2010), Oswaldo Truzzi (2011), Carlos Lemos (1989a), Nestor Reis Filho (2011), Michelle Perrot (1991) and Annateresa Fabris (1987), and also authors who studied the region as Ruth Paulino (1993) and Suzana Ribeiro (2011). It is based mainly on unpublished, documentary and field surveys; interviews and readings of related studies. It contributes to broaden the knowledge of the diversity of the production of Brazilian urban housing and of the agents involved with the civil construction. (AU)
