Abstract

Parkinson's disease is the second most common neurodegenerative disease worldwide, affecting about 7 to 10 million people, characterized by the loss of dopaminergic neurons, leading to uncontrolled voluntary movement causing tremors, postural instability, joint stiffness and difficulty in speech and locomotion, among other symptoms. Its cause remains unknown, which leads to a large number of research. An experimental model that has gained space in the scientific environment is the zebrafish (Danio rerio), a small teleost fish with about 70% of genes homologous to humans. Recently, studies have demonstrated the participation of intracellular peptides in other neurodegenerative diseases. In this context, this study aims to evaluate the altered peptides in the zebrafish brain induced to parkinsonian conditions as to their cytotoxic or neuroprotective action, as well as protein-protein interaction targets and cell signaling pathways.
