Abstract Very little is known about the microbial diversity of microorganisms associated with non-filtering marine organisms. Thus, it is necessary to investigate the microbiota of different non-filtering marine organisms, and the secondary metabolism of these strains, in order to verify if the secondary metabolism expressed by these strains is significantly different from cosmopolitan microbial strains. The present project aims to respond, albeit partially, to the following questions: a) Bacterial strains isolated from the viscera of non-filtering marine animals are, for the most part, not yet described from a taxonomic point of view?; b) Secondary metabolism of bacterial strains isolated from non-filtering marine animals is significantly distinct from that observed for microorganisms of wide occurrence in nature? Thus, in this project, the aims are: a) to identify strains of bacteria isolated from non-filtering marine organisms; b) to perform dereplication of these species of bacteria, using HPLC-UV-MS and UPLC-qTOF-MS, statistical and chemometric analyses in conjunction with different databases (GNPS-Molecular Networking, Dictionary of Natural Products and SciFinder); c) carry out the chemical and biological investigation of at least two strains of the bacteria identified and analyzed in their metabolome.
