Abstract

Adolescents are at higher risk for premature births than adult women. In addition to the complexity of adolescent pregnancy, the care for a premature newborn can mean higher stress levels, especially in shared home care, requiring family and community support. Although the literature shows saturation in studies that associate adolescent pregnancy and prematurity, it is incipient in the qualitative view of this process. In this sense, the concepts of network and social support are coherent to approach this object. Thus, the aim of this study is to identify and analyze social networks and support for adolescent mothers in-home care of premature infants. This is a qualitative approach study, strategic social research type, conducted in a high-risk maternal and child outpatient clinic in a city in the interior of São Paulo. Data collection will be performed through documentary research, minimum maps of the social network, and semi-structured interviews with adolescent mothers of premature infants who were discharged for a maximum of 15 days. The data will be analyzed by thematic analysis, anchored in the concept of network and social support. This study is scientifically and socially justified by listening to the voices of the adolescents, inserting them as protagonists of their experiences, capable of developing empirical knowledge that can contribute to integral and qualified care for this population and their children.
