This study aims to analyze the profile of accidents with sharps among the nursing staff notified at a university hospital and the perception of these workers. It is a descriptive, exploratory study, from a quanti-qualitative perspective. This research will be carried out at the University Hospital Dr. Horácio Carlos Panepucci from Federal University of São Carlos. In the qualitative stage of the research, the study population will be composed of nursing professionals from University Hospital from Federal University of São Carlos who suffered some type of accident with sharps in the period from 2016 to 2020. The first stage of the research consists of the quantitative approach, through a statistical study of retrospective descriptive character. For this purpose, primary source documents will be used, that is, those that have not yet received analytical treatment. For the qualitative stage, an interview will be held with professionals who are victims of accidents with sharps. Quantitative data will be stored in a structured database in Microsoft Excel and will be analyzed using descriptive statistics, using frequency, mean and standard deviation. The data, on the other hand, will be analyzed by the thematic analysis that unfolds in three pre-analysis stages, exploration of the material and treatment of the results obtained / interpretation. Data collection will begin after the study has been approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the Federal University of São Carlos.
