Abstract

The aim of this work is to study and analyze the alignment of the higher education with the 2030 Agenda, analyzing specific case of the São Paulo State University "Júlio de Mesquita Filho" trough the "2030 University Network" initiative, as well as understanding the global context of this alignment. The research also wants to understand the strategies used by UNESCO in Brazil, which are located on the extension of concepts and actions with focus on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) from a theoretical point of view of Communication for Peace. First, there will be a exploratory research on the Peace Studies field including the coverage of other topics to map out the theoretical reference and find material, both from undergraduate teaching plans as well as from communication strategies from UNESCO. There will also be interviews with managers, individuals with influential depth on the matter and people who are affected by it. As a second step, the descriptive research will be guided by the analyzes of the collected material, the defined categories based on the interviews and the theoretical references. The study will enable a better pondering on the role of higher teaching on the concretization of a peace culture and sustainable development.
