Abstract

The work is based on the assumption that self-construction is the main form of access to housing for the low-income population in Brazil. In view of this, it proposes to analyze the process of social production of urban space, achieved through self-construction. With the city as the scene of great contradictions and inequalities, it is necessary to study the irregular housing forms, so common in medium and large Brazilian cities, in order to contribute and add to the understanding of precarious settlements in socio-spatial dynamics. To this end, the objective is to collect and analyze data from secondary sources about precarious settlements, with a focus on urban occupations. In addition, it is proposed to produce tables, tables and thematic maps through the analysis of secondary data consistent with the urban formation of its population and the way these factors are related to their housing forms. In addition, we are committed to the elaboration of primary data through fieldwork, carried out in the Satellite Íris neighborhood in Campinas-SP. This proposition includes the development of descriptive inventories about the local population together with the social leaders, for later transcription and dissemination of the indicators. The motivation for this work came from the desire to contribute to the reflection on the housing policy that is being built in Brazil, especially for policies aimed at the low-income population. Such assumptions are based both on the direct observation of our urban context, as well as on the analyzes of authors who reference this work.
