This project proposes research in lexicography, within the field of Linguistics linked to Social Sciences. The study is part of the project e-Dictionary of Portuguese-English Verbs (e-DVPE) for Brazilian Learners: focus on students' needs and on cross-cultural language contrast. The project is supported by FAPESP and it is under development by Dr. Regiani Zacarias who is also responsible for this research. Based on the contrastivity of the Portuguese and English languages, the dictionary is aimed at helping Brazilian users who are learning English as a foreign language. In this work, we focus on the intercultural contrastivity also built by the referred dictionary in the teaching and learning process, in this case, English learning by native Brazilian Portuguese language and culture students. In this project, we highlight the intercultural contrastivity that should also be incorporated into the referred dictionary, once it is relevant to the process of learning a foreign language. We aim at two goals, one in e-Lexicography and one in e-Metalexicography. In e-Lexicography, we aim at the elaboration of 20 entries of the letter 'I` following the model proposed by Zacarias (2014). We start with 20 verbs starting with the letter 'I` and most frequently used in the Portuguese language, according to Bay and Davies, 2008 and the site: Afterward, we will proceed with the analysis of the corresponding entry-word information from four Portuguese-English dictionaries in order to write entry-word information for thee-DVPE. In e-Metalexicography, we will analyze six Portuguese-English e-dictionaries in order to identify their pedagogical components. (AU)
