Abstract

Over the past few decades we have collected a lot of evidence about the existence of dark matter in our Universe, however, we do not know its origin. One of the most popular interpretation is that the dark matter is made of WIMPs (Weakly Interacting Massive Particles). Models with WIMPs predict signals that can be observed by the current experiments and also it will be one of the main focus of the CTA (Cherenkov Telescope Array) telescope. The CTA has the potential to determine the dark matter nature and claim if it is in fact composed by WIMPs, under some assumptions over its mass, cross-section and annihilation mechanism. The purpose of this project is to determine in which situations the CTA will have the potential to discover the dark matter nature as well as to obtain the sensitivity of CTA different dark matter models in the literature. This project will be done with external collaborators, between them, Farinaldo Queiroz (International Institute of Physics - UFRN) and Maíra Dutra (Carleton University in Canada) and this request is related to the targets of the Thematic Project 2015/15897-1 to which this project is connected.
