Abstract

This research has as main object the philological work with a set of letters written by and about women in Portuguese America. In a society where women were primarily responsible for social reproduction, female education in the Colony was a privilege for the few. In this context, the records made by women, or related to them, are true acts of resistance to time and to their own time. The search, philological study, and establishment of a digital and electronically annotated edition of these documents are a way of returning a historically unheard voice from these women. In this way, it reproduces the light in the processes of formation of Brazilian society, which had as historical resource the process of colonization of the land and of the women's body. (AU)
