Abstract

The Young Researcher group "Teaching the Christian Faith in the Iberian Peninsula" (PROCESSO 2017 / 11111-9) aims to analyze the process of naturalizing Christian beliefs in the Iberian kingdoms of the 14th and 15th centuries. As part of this larger project, the present Scientific Initiation research will aim to investigate the role of the archbishops of Braga in promoting a more orderly pastoral policy in northern Portugal in the late 15th century and the threshold of the 16th. Serializing constitutions of synods, this study will seek to map measures created by diocesan prelates with the goal of supporting the clergy of that prelature in caring for the souls of the laity. Therefore, the objective of this work will be to examine prescriptions conveyed within the scope of the synods that should be familiar to men and women of the period.
