Abstract

This project aims to investigate the links between the New Education Fellowship (NEF) and Brazil. Therefore, it will be guided by the perspective of a transnational history of education, giving view to the exchange that had been carried out with the Anglophone context, little explored, to the detriment of the emphasis given to the Francophone context (VIDAL & RABELO, 2017 e 2018). This investigation, therefore, can contribute to the already initiated movement to give visibility to the unprecedented documentation which is linked to Carleton Washburne's educational trips to countries in South America, including Brazil, and thus understand the speeches conveyed, in exchanges and formations favored through these trips. Allied to this, there will also be a search for educational journals linked to the NEF Sections created in different South American countries, between the 1920s and 1940s: Argentina, Ecuador, Peru, Paraguay, Uruguay, Bolivia and Brazil, which had its section created only in 1942, but that already had exchanges with NEF since the early 1920s (VIDAL & RABELO, 2017; 2018). With this research will be investigated: documents on Ferriere and Washburne's trips to South America; educational journals created or associated by NEF countries in South America; educational trips made by South American educators within the scope of the relations established by NEF between the countries of South America. Such movements will make possible the reconstruction, through the methodology of the networks, of the constituted webs and the products and pedagogical initiatives resulting from them or in relation to it.
