Abstract

This project aims to study the emission of green bonds by the National Bank of Social and Economic Development (BNDES) and the projects financed by the resources acquired, and evaluate their impacts on the territory and their participation in the Brazilian energy matrix. The matter of environmental sustainability has been currently the focus of much debate, especially in regard to climate change. This project proposes the investigation of a relatively new financial instrument created in the context of that discussion, the green bonds, whose purpose was to encourage the investment in sustainable projects. The financial market is an extremely relevant component of the current economic system, therefore its instruments should be investigated.To conduct this investigation, we intend to understand the green bond market and the debate that surrounds it, by means of the following: bibliographical research; gathering of information on projects financed by these bonds and their impacts social and environmental impacts on the surrounding areas; conduction of interviews; review of secondary data on the Brazilian energy matrix.
