Abstract

The number of dental colleges in Brazil has grown significantly over the past 20 years. By the year 2019 there were a total of 412 dentistry courses in Brazil. The clinical disciplines make up the curriculum of all colleges of dentistry, whether public or private and specifically in the discipline that integrates all areas of training (generally called Integrated Clinic), students are encouraged to an attitude from the perspective of general health and the a broad, global view of the patient, which is not only focused on the oral cavity. In this sense, the student's concern and motivation to meet the expectations of patients grows, which go beyond oral aspects, that is: patients expect, in addition to solving their oral problem, welcoming, qualified listening, comfort, clear information and understandable, humanized service, etc. Studies on the perception of the user can collaborate for the planning of measures that aim to improve even more the teaching and the attendance, allowing the recognition of flaws and limitations, or even attitudes that can be improved, always looking for the qualification of the attendance and the relation patient - professional. Objective: To understand the perception of patients about the clinical care received at a university dental clinic. Participants and Method: Clinical-qualitative design. It is a method brought up and refined from the Human Sciences. The sample will be constructed intentionally and sequentially, by patients linked to students of the 9th period of graduation in dentistry at FOP / UNICAMP, who are willing to participate in the research. The sample will be closed by saturation. It should be noted that the choice of patients who are being specifically cared for by students in the 9th period is due to the fact that at this point in the training, it is expected that the student's relational skills are already consolidated, since all disciplines related to this content has already been taught, and the relational question is what is directly involved in the perceptions of the patient, the target of this investigation. The semi-directed interview technique with open and in-depth questions will be applied. The interview material will be audiorecorded, later transcribed in full and treated by Clinical-Qualitative Content Analysis, a humanistic investigative approach, developed for clinical settings. The operationalization in the field is preceded by a phase of acculturation, in order to promote the insertion of the researcher in the chosen care setting. The treatment of the data will be done by Clinical-Qualitative Content Analysis, with emerging categories. Expected results: Scientific understanding of patients 'perceptions of university clinical care, since patients' perceptions of clinic-school care influence the science of possible failures and / or points to be improved before not detected. The conclusions obtained and published should contribute to a greater and better understanding of the patients' perceptions about the care received at a school clinic, in order to contribute to the improvement of care since only the patient is able to express what he feels about his assistance.
