Abstract

The evaluation of the efficacy of sclerotherapy treatment of telangiectasias, which is the treatment of choice for such condition, is mainly performed by qualitative photographic analysis, using improvement scores. This type of method is marked by subjective content, which undermines the accuracy of studies on the topic, since it makes it unfeasible to accurately assess the effectiveness of the therapy of choice. Objectives: Validate the quantitative evaluation method of the efficacy of sclerotherapy treatment of telangectasias, as well as to demonstrate the possible advantages of using this method in comparison to validated methods that use improvement scores. Methods: Perform analysis of photos obtained in a previous study on the effectiveness of treating lower limb telangiectasias, using the quantitative method and compare with the qualitative method with improvement scores. Perform reliability analysis of the methods, applying the intraclass correlation coefficient (Intraclass Correlation Coefficient, ICC) / or Spearman's correlation coefficient for inter-examiner and intra-examiner concordance analysis in both assessment methods. Conduct validity analysis of the methods, evaluating the presence of convergent validity. (AU)
