Abstract

This research project is a proposal for the continuation of previous Scientific Initiation research funded by the São Paulo State Research Support Foundation (FAPESP). On the occasion, it was investigated whether undergraduate students in Pedagogy at a public university in São Paulo are being prepared to work with sexual and gender diversity in their future professional performance at school, in addition to relating this preparation with their moral formation. Since it was inferred that there was no satisfactory preparation and moral quality and that this had a strong relationship with the religiosity variable, the present proposal seeks to deepen these results by expanding the investigation. The expansion will be in two directions: sampling, with a focus on the initial formation of the psychologist along with the formation of the pedagogue in the São Paulo public university context, and of evaluated constructs, now investigating the moral competence and, also, adherence to religiosity. With a broader sample, we seek to test the hypothesis obtained with the results of the previous research and to deepen them, in order to make a comparative internal and external sample analysis: internal, when comparing the training of undergraduate students in a Pedagogy course that has gender and sexualities as curricular content with another Pedagogy course that does not have them, and external, when comparing the formation of both Pedagogy courses with two other undergraduate courses, in this case, Psychology, being also a course that has the themes in the curriculum and another that does not. For the assessment of morality, this time the construct of moral competence is used, due to the understanding that professional performance depends on the integration of affective, cognitive and conative aspects, which is best evaluated based on this construct. As religiosity proved to be one of the most important variables in the previous research, the subjects' adherence to religiosity and the way in which such adherence occurs will also be assessed. Therefore, the objective is to investigate the relationship between moral competence, gender and sexualities, and religiosity in São Paulo's initial public education in Pedagogy and Psychology of four distinct courses, with and without gender and sexualities as curricular content. The outlined methodology, which is a cross-sectional study of multiple and contrasting cases, is divided into the stages of bibliographic review, for theoretical foundation in the relevant themes; documentary analysis, to know what is legally expected from the performance of both professionals; and empirical research, to collect and analyze data on the three constructs in the formative process to be investigated, through two questionnaires, one elaborated in the previous research and the other to be elaborated based on a previous moment of application of focus groups, and of the Brazilian validated versions of the Moral Competence Test extended (MCT_xt) and the Post-Critical Belief Scale (PCBS). Thus, a triangular comparative analysis will be carried out, between the constructs of moral competence, gender and sexuality, and religiosity, and internal and external sampling, between four different university environments.
