Abstract

This research project has as its object of study three municipalities of the northern sub-region of the São Paulo Metropolitan Region: Caieiras, Francisco Morato and Franco da Rocha. The investigation considers the contemporary period, from the promulgation of the Federal Law nº 10.257/2001 (City Statute), extending to the period in which the selected cities attended the legislation impositions and approved their respective Master Plans (in 2006 and 2007) and to the validity of these urban regulations. The main objective of the research, through compared analysis, consists on examining the content incorporated into the local legislation (urban guidelines, norms and instruments), the potential impacts and the incidence of Master Plans on the urban dynamics of these municipalities regarding the production patterns of urban space. Therefore, it is a matter of analyzing how the Master Plans eventually impacted local urban dynamics and the corresponding socio-territorial processes.
