Abstract

Circadian rhythms can be understood as physiological, behavioral and biochemical events that take place in the human body over a period of about 24 hours, and food and other environmental factors can cause the sleep-wake cycle. Food is related to the secretion of hormones and peripheral oscillators that are important markers of the sleep-wake cycle. In addition, depending on the phase of life and the Chrono type, we may experience a delay or an advance in the sleep /wake cycle. In the present study, will be analyzed a possible association between the time of eating, quality of sleep and the level of anxiety in health students from universities in São Paulo. The collection of student data will be done through an online questionnaire to fill in personal data, activity schedules, possible health problems and use of medicines for sleep induction/deprivation and will answer the following questionnaires: morning-evening questionnaire Munich Chrono Type Questionnaire (MCTQ), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory. In addition, students will be asked for their main mealtime and last meal before bedtime. The data will be analyzed by parametric and non-parametric correlation coefficients, according to their distribution. This work is an excerpt from the cross-sectional study entitled "Sleep and Academic Performance of Health Students" coordinated by Professor Leandro Duarte who will investigate the relationship between sleep, wake/sleep cycle, and Chrono type with the academic performance of Brazilian university students, as part of his postdoc.
