The objective of this experiment will be to evaluate the effect of the supply of dehydrated larvae of Hermetia illucens (Black Soldier Fly - BSF) as a protein source in partial replacement of soybean meal on the performance and carcass characteristics of feedlot lambs. Twenty young lambs, no castrated crossbred Dorper x Santa Inês will be used, with approximately 15,0 kg of initial BW and 60 d old, will be distributed in a randomized complete block design (10 blocks and 2 treatments). The experimental treatments will be defined by replacing 50% of soybean meal with dehydrating larvae of BSF, as follows: 0 BSF - control diet with 13% soybean meal without BSF and 50 BSFdiet - 50% diet substitution of soybean meal from diet 0 BSF with dehydrated BSF larvae. Every day, all rations will be weighed on an electronic scale with an accuracy of 1g (Marte®, LC 100, São Paulo, Brazil) and offered. The animals will go through an adaptation period to the diet of 11 days. From the 12th day on, the 90-day trial period will start, divided into three subperiods of the 30 days. In this experiment, the following variables will be measured: dry matter intake (DMI), average daily gain (ADG), feed efficiency (FE) yield, and carcass characteristics.
