Abstract

The Catholic Pentecostal movement (Catholic Charismatic Renewal) has been present in Brazil since 1969, having millions of faithful and spreading their spirituality in face-to-face meetings, but also through TV, radio, and the internet. This movement was, in Brazil, one of the most important propagators of the gender ideology category and of a series of ideas associated with this term, mainly those related to the correspondence between biological sex and the social role played by men and women. Faced with this scenario, this research intends to map and analyze the process of adherence, interpretation, and propagation of the term gender ideology by the CCR in the country, identifying the way in which the circulation of this concept was promoted through the national territory, which culminates in the penetration of this category in other religions, especially Pentecostal and Neopentecostal, and also in social movements and political parties, spilling over into the religious sphere.
