Abstract

The production of energetic particles in the universe remains one of the great mysteries of modern Science. The mechanisms of particle acceleration in astrophysical sources are still unknown and recent results point to the need for a multi-mensaging approach to solve this problem. In this project, we will develop detailed techniques for simulating particle generation in supernovae and black hole neighborhoods. We will focus on the simulation of the Centaurus A galaxy given its proximity and abundance of data in various wavelengths. Our goal is to contribute significantly in the use of experimental data in the optimization and restriction of astrophysical models. As a result of this thesis, we hope to find a minimum set of astrophysical parameters of the accelerating sources that can be correlated with the current measurements and those that will be made in the coming decades by the Pierre Auger and Cherenkov Telescope Array Observatories.
