Abstract

The Brazilian cities selected for this research, Dourados (MS) and Ituiutaba (MG), present evidence of the process of socio-spatial fragmentation, characterized by the proliferation of enclosed spaces, such as controlled access allotments, shopping malls or private clubs, which prevent or hinder heterogeneity and coexistence between different classes and tend to devalue public spaces. In this context, we intend to understand the impacts of this logic in the public space pair - private space. Through the analysis of the relations between selected public spaces in the two cities, we seek to question the possibilities and limitations of the practices present there in, in the reversal of this fragmentary logic. The proposal is integrating to the FragUrb Thematic Project and part of the research results of previous IC (FAPESP 19/09982-7), such as the identification of heterogeneous public and diverse spatial practices in central public spaces of these cities.
