Abstract

Depression, anxiety and obesity are currently problems of great interest in public health, either because of their high disability and mortality, or because of the burden they represent for the health system in economic terms. They consist of diseases whose incidence is increasing. Obesity has become a worldwide epidemic. On the other hand, depression and anxiety can be grouped as Common Mental Disorders, a concept created to designate a set of non-psychotic symptoms that present themselves as subclinical pictures of these diseases, being very prevalent in primary care and that can define clinical outcomes. Such common mental disorders influence the therapeutic approach in obesity, the present study aims to assess the impact of such disorders on the prognosis of conventional therapy for weight loss, based on dietary re-education and physical exercise.
