Abstract

Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is characterized as a chronic disease, caused by the accumulation of atheromatous plaques on the vessel walls, which results in a partial or total obstruction of blood flow, compromising irrigation at the ends of the body. As a consequence of these symptoms, patients with PAD often have a low level of physical activity and a high amount of time spent in sedentary behavior, which aggravates the disease. Regular physical activity has shown health benefits for patients with PAD; however, the effect of light-intensity physical activity (LPA) has not been well established with this type of population. Thus, the objective of this project will be to verify the association of the level of LPA in the cardiovascular health indicators in patients with peripheral arterial disease. For this purpose, a cross-sectional observational study will be carried out, using a longitudinal epidemiological project as a reference, where data have already been collected between the years 2015 to 2019. To assess the level of physical activity, data generated by an accelerometer will be used, which will later be used. categorized into sedentary activity (0-99 counts min-1), light-intensity physical activity (100-1951) counts min-1 and moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (e 1,952 counts min-1), in addition, to assess the sedentary time was A questionnaire was conducted with questions designed specifically for this purpose. To assess cardiovascular health, brachial blood pressure, autonomic modulation and arterial stiffness will be considered as variables. Multiple linear regression analysis will be performed to analyze the association between LPA level indicators of cardiovascular health, for all statistical analyzes, P <0.05 will be considered significant.
