Abstract The abusive use of ethanol is a public health issue and one of the major causes of death around the world. The drinking pattern is an important indicator of the probability of developing addiction and other health issues. Several factors influence ethanol drinking, including different ingredients of diets. A variable component present in commercial rodent chow is the isoflavone. Diets rich with this substance may induce increased ethanol consumption by rodents. This project will study the effect of isoflavones on anxiety-like behavior and how this substance modulates neurogenesis. These approaches will be used to understand how high concentrations of isoflavone may alter drinking patterns in mice. (AU) | |
