Abstract

The master-doctorate thesis objectives will work on the synthesis and the characterisation of noble metal catalysts with controlled shape and structure, in particular core-shell nanoparticles. The samples will be synthetised by the student and fully characterised. Their catalytic properties will be evaluated during the CO oxidation reaction. The main objectives of this project are to gain insights on the structural changes on the catalytic nanoparticles during their operation thanks to in situ/operando characterisations. To analyse the influence of the shape, structure and strain of the nanoparticles on the final catalytic properties, new imaging techniques with a coherent X-ray beam will be implemented within in situ measurements.
