Abstract

This project analyzes the insubordinate conditional constructions headed by "se ao menos" that, unlike those in which the main clause is expressed, only admit verbs in the imperfect subjunctive, something that Hirata-Vale (2015) pointed out as a structural indicator of constructions that tend towards insubordination (Evans, 2007). Seeking to investigate this tendency, this project aims at running a constructional analysis, which is defined by Hilpert (2014) as a possibility within the proposed methods of Corpus Linguistics that aims to discover which lexical items co-occur inside a given construction. This information will allow a better understanding of the insubordinate constructions headed by "se ao menos", in order to attest to their degree of independentization in Evans' (2007) terms, besides proposing a categorization of constructions like "se ao menos". For the research proposed here, the corpus for analysis will consist of real occurrences from the "Corpus do Português" and also Tweets. This investigation is justified by the need to expand linguistic knowledge related to regular constructions in Brazilian Portuguese, scarcely described by theory, using a method of analysis not much explored in Brazil (ALONSO, OLIVEIRA, FUMEAUX, 2019). Lastly, this work dialogues with projects already developed and in development on the subject in Brazilian Portuguese, such as Hirata-Vale (2017), Coimbra (2019), Coradini (2019), and Alves (2019), and Comarim (2021).(AU)
