Abstract

This project has as its objective the investigation of the conditions of the teacher's position taking in Campus Guarulhos of the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP) during the manifestations and disputes of 2012 about the geographical localization of the academic building. This issue turned into a central point because was connected to conceptions about the university's social function and, particularly, the Campus in face of the Pimenta's neighborhood population. The shocks involving the Campus localization are connected with the transformations of Brazil's higher education. From the 2000s onwards a process of restructuring and expansion of the federal universities began (REUNI). The plan configured an expansion of the student's and teacher's body inside the country's higher education and opened paths to a discussion about the role of the university beyond its internal traditional logic. Thus, the object of this research is to investigate the teachers who manifested in the process and associate their manifestations with their respective social and intellectual trajectories, which implies investigating their socio-economical, intellectual, and professional properties, that is, the position occupied inside the university. To that, it is intended to elaborate a database with the agent's properties and proceed to a Multiple Correspondence Analysis (MCA) and a Network Analysis, in order to determine to what extent certain sets of symbolic and material capitals are associated with certain position takings at this moment.(AU)
