Abstract

COVID-19 disease causes cardiorespiratory problems and, in its moderate and severe form, there is a need for hospitalization. This clinical condition can be aggravated and intensified when there are pre-existing comorbidities, such as obesity. Accompanying this context within the hospital environment will make it possible to outline actions to improve care and perhaps improve the outcome. The aim of this study will be to describe the clinical, cardiorespiratory, and sociodemographic characteristics and to investigate the associations of obesity in cardiorespiratory variables and clinical outcomes in patients hospitalized due to COVID-19. This study is characterized as observational, descriptive, analytical, retrospective cohort type, single-center, to be carried out through data collection through medical records of patients consecutively admitted to the State Hospital of Bauru (SP) as a result of COVID-19 between March to September of the year 2020, period of the pandemic peak at the regional and national scope. Data will be presented descriptively and statistical analyzes and tests will be performed: data normality distribution (Kolmogorov-Smirnov); associations and comparisons (Pearson/Spearman /t Tes /Wilcoxon/Mann-Whitney) using the SPSS v.20 programs, considering p<0.05.(AU)
