Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the systemic and periodontal conditions and the quality of life of pregnant women and monitor the birth weight of babies. In addition it will be verified which variables are associated with the outcome of birth weight below normal. Pregnant women will be evaluated for systemic and oral conditions. After birth, babies will be divided into two groups: babies with normal weight (G1=60) and babies with below normal weight (G2=60), making a total of 120 babies. The research will be divided into T1 and T2, with T1 being the moment in which the gestational data will be collected, namely: schooling, family monthly income, systemic condition, periodontal condition, oral hygiene habits, quality of life, in addition to the diagnosis of COVID -19 during pregnancy; T2 is the moment when data will be collected after the baby's birth, which will serve to divide the groups, being, therefore: the baby's data at birth (week of birth, weight and height), in addition to a new analysis of the systemic condition, periodontal condition (only for patients that it was possible to perform in this period), oral hygiene habits and quality of life after childbirth. Regarding collection, patients will be recruited from Basic Health Units (BHU) in the city of Bauru, São Paulo, Brazil. The babies of the patients in the sample will be classified according to the data obtained from the babies' medical follow-up card. As a result, it is expected that periodontal disease is associated with birth weight below normal, in addition it is imagined that mothers of babies with below normal weight have a worse quality of life, and finally that mothers with a positive diagnosis for COVID-19 have babies with any change, either in the week of birth or in their birth weight.
