Abstract

The magnitude of the urban problems of the city of São Paulo comes to an unprecedented stage, as both historical and economic urban policy-related problems seem to have cooled down, revealing the difficulties in the realm of ideas and solutions for the city. In relationship to social housing, these stalemates are more evident as the massive public investments have not represented a qualitative change in different scales of the metropolis. Despite some important examples of housing solutions in "paulista" architecture indicating a more comprehensive proposal for urban space, there are no systematic studies that focus on this approach. The objective of this research is to identify the spatial patterns (understood as the relationship between architecture and city) in the Housing Complex Jardim São Francisco, a project built between 1990-1991 in the district of São Mateus - in the city of São Paulo - by the Secretary of Housing the architecture collective CoOperaAtiva the technical assistance Ação Direta. In this sense, this research proposes: a) spatial analysis of the typologies; deriving from b) the relationship of these typologies with the existing city; c) the transformation of these spaces of habitat in the development of the city; d) the reception and incorporation of these alternatives to discipline and e) the consolidation of the documents of these projects for future research. This project is part of a broader research, which was supported by Auxílio Regular FAPESP (no. 2013 / 14951-7), coordinated by professors Luiz Recamán and Leandro Medrano(FAUUSP), dedicated to the study of some housing projects built in the metropolitan region from São Paulo, and is currently inserted in the Thematic Project 16 / 22704-8 - "Architecture and urbanism facing the social space in the 21st century: segregation strategies and appropriation tactics." In this new phase, the project includes the participation of post-doctoral fellow Marcos Leite Rosa, from the Department of History of Architecture and Aesthetics of the Project (AUH), from FAUUSP.
