Abstract

The project aims to analyze the artistic relations between the regions of São Paulo and River Plate, in the broader context of exchanges between the territories of Portuguese America and Spanish America between the 16th and 18th centuries. Given the commercial relations - legal or not - established between the two regions and also with Europe, some networks would have been established between the borders, either by land routes, or by the maritime routes of the South Atlantic. These relationships fostered the circulation of people, objects, techniques and artistic models, making it possible to verify the Portuguese-Brazilian presence in the arts produced in the River Plate region, as well as the Hispanic culture in the arts produced in the São Paulo region. Since the historiography of colonial art in São Paulo, although consolidated, still has open gaps, we propose here to deepen these studies from the bibliographical and documentary analyzes in a multidisciplinary perspective. We will therefore seek to verify the existence of an artistic geography between São Paulo and the platinum region on the basis of the study, and to contribute to broaden the historiographic debate on the subject and to the disciplinary area through a transnational and transdisciplinary approach.
