Abstract

The puerperal pregnancy cycle marks a period of intense changes in the woman's psyche and body, filled with particular emotional demands. Childbirth is an emotionally relevant event that, depending on its consequences, can significantly impact maternal mental health. The present study aims to analyze the emotional aspects involved in the experience of childbirth during the pre and postnatal periods. This is exploratory, descriptive, and qualitative research, which seeks to understand the perspective of women regarding this event. The proposal for data collection is the combination of the application of instruments and the conduction of pre-and post-natal semi-structured interviews, in order to understand the expectations, thoughts, feelings, and emotions involved in the experience of childbirth.
