Abstract

The orthopedic disorders that require repairing surgical treatment with the use of bone substitutes are frequent not only in human medicine but also in veterinary medicine. The aim of this research is to produce scaffolds of alumina-zirconia nanocomposites (SNA-Z) coated with calcium phosphate for seven days (7d) and submit them to an analysis by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), stereomicroscope, and cytotoxicity assay. It is expected as a result that SNA-Z(7d) has the potential for clinical application and can be used as an alternative in the repair of orthopedic injuries with great bone loss, with satisfactory results, low cost, easy acquisition, and access to improving the quality of life of not only human patients but also veterinarians.(AU)
