Abstract

The goal of this project is the training of the candidate on the development of noncollinear optical parametric amplifiers (NOPAs) for ultrashort pulses and its application to state-of-the-art time-resolved spectroscopy. The project will be developed in the former group of Prof. Motzkus (now group of Prof. Dechscler), in University of Heidelberg, and under the supervision of Dr. Tiago Buckup. Specifically, the candidate will build and benchmark a NOPA for the near-infrared region to generate pulses shorter than 20fs and exploit that spectral range in vibrational coherence spectroscopy (VCS). Pump-DFWM and Pump- IVS methods in the NIR will be demonstrated by applying to molecular systems investigated so far by the candidate in his master`s project in Brazil. The application of these techniques with such short pulses will allow a deeper insight on the initial structural dynamics within the first hundreds of femtoseconds. The knowledge acquired by the candidate during this project in Germany will be an asset for the implementation of VCS techniques and ultrafast NOPAs in the Photonics Group in Brazil. (AU)
