Adherence to the use of individual and collective protection equipment by individuals exposed to laboratory animals: a longitudinal study

Abstract

Use of personal protective equipment decreases exposure to allergens, which can reduce allergic symptons prevalence in workplace. In the present study, a questionnaire will be applied to investigate asthma and rhinitis indicative symtpoms, and intestinal flora disbalance symptoms, such as diarrhea, instestinal constipation, abdominal pain, as well as use of antibiotic medication. In additin to a formulary based observation of workplace and voluntary on use of protective measures for contact with laboratory animals, although it may not reflect daily use protective measure. Objective: Evaluate prevention methods used, including their actual adhesion by workers and students exposeds to laboratory animals and presence of allergies and asthma incatives symptoms in that period. Methods: Observational and longidudinal study, with 30 individuals who will be followed by 12 months. Procedures: assessment of individuals workplace and routine every 3 months at time of delivery of referring to Specific Projetics 1 and 2. (AU)
