Abstract

Evidence suggests that lipid nanoemulsion for cancer treatment is an effective treatment alternative in the delivery of chemotherapeutic agents to tumor cells. The LDE molecule has great versatility to carry drugs with high dosage and present minimal toxicity, being a new perspective for the fight against some types of neoplasms. The reduction of chemotherapy toxicity led us to test the potential of nanoparticle application in methotrexate therapy in the treatment of cancer cachexia (CC). To increase the specificity of the nanoparticle and the corresponding drug, we will associate aerobic physical training, verifying the impact on cancer cachexia against therapies. Thus, the aim of this study will be to verify the effects of chemically induced cancer cachexia and to evaluate the effects of LDE-methotrexate treatment associated with aerobic physical training on the skeletal muscle of Sprague-Dawley rats. Cachexia will be determined in male Sprague-Dawley rats, which will receive a single dose of 65mg/kg of 7,12-dimethylbenz[a]anthracene (DMBA). After tumor induction, the animals will receive LDE+methotrexate treatments associated with the aerobic physical training protocol. At the end, the animals will be euthanized and the skeletal striated muscle will be collected, weighed and submitted to tissue analysis to evaluate the treatment response in the different groups.
