Traditional acupuncture and laser acupuncture on chronic non-specific neck pain: randomized,controlled clinical trial

Abstract

Nonspecific neck pain is a multifactorial condition and is highly prevalent in adults. Traditional Acupuncture (TA) and Laser Acupuncture (LA) may be treatment options for certain conditions. However, no studies comparing the efficacy between TA and LA in nonspecific neck pain were found in the literature. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the effectiveness between traditional acupuncture and laser acupuncture therapies in mandatory with non-specific chronic cervical pain. This study will be a randomized controlled clinical trial. 84 will be recruited without a total, which will be distributed equally and randomly in 3 groups: traditional acupuncture (which will receive the acupuncture treatment with needles), laser acupuncture (which will receive the laser acupuncture treatment) and Sham acupuncture laser (who will receive a placebo intervention). The acupuncture points used will be: Tianzhu, Fengchi, Jianjing, Jianzhongshu, stimulated bilaterally. The primary outcome will be the intensity of pain that will be assessed by the numerical pain scale. Secondary outcomes will be: pressure pain threshold; temporal summation of pain; conditioned pain modulation; consumption of analgesic medications after treatment and perception of the global effect. As corrected immediately before and after treatment, with follow-up 1 month after treatment. Paid data will be considered a significance level of p < 0.05.The result of this research leads directly to pain management, and, consequently, can benefit the beneficiary who can treat non-specific chronic neck pain.
