Lamellar and amphiphilic zeolitic catalysts for reaction with bulky molecules in immiscible systems

Abstract

The two-dimensional zeolites are molecular sieves little studied in the literature yet. However,their peculiarities like presence of micro and mesopores and possibility of modification post synthesis justify the increasing the 2D zeolites area. In this perspective, the material two-dimensional lamellar ITQ-2, which has a disorganized structure of sheets and shows a superior catalytic activity whencompared with other structures members of the MWW family (MCM-22, MCM-56, MCM-36). Thesepoints highlight a potential industrial application of the structure. On the other hand, its complex, expensive and low efficiency synthesis becomes hard the preparation of this catalysis in large scale. Another context to be exposed it's the search for preparation of catalysts that, further provide a goodcatalytic performance, enable a phase transfer between the liquid-liquid biphasic reactions, in one solvent free perspective. With this focus, modifications on the catalysts surfaces are necessary to fit their hydrophilic and hydrophobic properties. In view of these points discussed, this project has the objective to prepare a delaminated material, analogous to ITQ-2, by through an alternative and unprecedented route developed by our search group in the last year. And, in this way, apply it in the ketalization reaction of glycerol to solketal, without solvents, since the catalyst will acquireamphiphilic feature after a functionalization with organosilane. The catalytic performance andcharacterizations of the delaminated material will be compared to the traditional ITQ-2 and themicroporous 3D MCM-22. In addition, the functionalization influence on the catalytic activity with organosilane will be evaluated.
