Abstract

The aim of the present study will be to evaluate the demineralization of dental enamel using hybrid composites containing the MMT/CHX complex and conventional barium glass and silica fillers at different concentrations. Thus, six experimental composites based on BisGMA/TEGDMA were made, containing 5% MMT loaded with chlorhexidine, the total concentrations will be 30 or 60% by weight. The proportion of barium glass and colloidal silica will be 80/20 or 70/30 by weight. In addition, we will have two control drupes, one with only the polymeric matrix, and the other with only MMT/CHX, thus totaling six experimental groups. Cavities made in human teeth will be restored with these composites. Demineralization will be analyzed using Knoop microhardness on the enamel surface before, 7 days, and 14 days after the growth of the S. Mutans biofilm. In addition, colony-forming units will be counted both after 7 days and after 14 days. Statistical analysis will be performed according to the normality and homoscedasticity of the data. (AU)
