Abstract

The objective of our research is to fulfill a study of the relationship between Bergson and Spinoza that seeks to sympathize with what would be, to use Bergson's expression, the profound intuition of each of these. This aim follows the conception of Philosophy proposed by Bergson, which means that, first of all, we intend to study this conception itself and then, as a deepening, the sense of the profound intuition of Bergsonism, thus radicalizing Bergson's notions of intuition and duration and the descriptive passage from one to the other. At this moment, we intend to develop how this sense of duration means, in Bergsonism, what would be most positive in the real: pure duration being the description of an immanence, and in what way, then, its different expressions accomplish, according to Bergson, different experiences and, these, different realities, from the depth of pure duration to spatial and superficial existences. Hence, we intend to explain how the philosophical investigation for Bergson is an immediate dive into the depth at the same time that it is the critical movement of dissolution of superficial experiences, and, thus, to scrutinize the interest, for this way of philosophizing, in the study of the history of Philosophy, and, in particular, of Spinoza's Philosophy, searching for the meanings of what Bergson considers as deep and superficial in Spinoza, accessing the most intimate of the knowledge and of existence as eternity. Finally, we intend to converge, still according to the Bergsonian intuitive method, these discoveries of (pure) duration for Bergson, and of eternity for Spinoza, which means that we intend to find the profound intuition of the two and, from the sympathy between both intuitions, what would be, still from the perspective suggested by Bergsonism, the profound intuition of Philosophy itself, reaching not only the effective differences between Bergson and Spinoza, but also, and fundamentally, the sense of the very interest in the relationship between these two in particular.
