Abstract

This project aims to study the anodizing behavior of high-strength, aeronautical-grade Al-Cu-Li alloys using high-resolution microstructural characterization techniques, such as Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), 3D volumetric reconstructions by electron microscopy. Through these techniques, it will be possible to identify the distribution, size and morphology of the hardening phases present in these alloys, as well as the chemical composition and morphology of the anodized layer obtained in sulfuric tartaric acid solution (TSA). Therefore, it will be possible to correlate the effect of the microstructure of the Al alloys on the formation of the anodic layer. These results are expected to provide a better understanding of the formation and performance of the anodic films formed in aluminium alloys. (AU)
