Abstract

New spatial practices are deepening social inequalities and other urban problems in Brazilian cities. The process of formation, structuring, and the respective tendencies of socio-spatial differentiation stimulated by external dynamics added to neoliberal logic have been aggravating and accelerating the process of socio-spatial ruptures, contributing to a city's increasingly heterogeneous and fragmented. The city of Chapecó (SC), has a dynamic of occupation and urban expansion that took place concomitantly with socio-spatial segregation, in a socio-spatial formation marked by small properties. The aim of this study is to identify the process of socio-spatial fragmentation and its consequences in the daily lives of city dwellers and to verify to what extent the scenario of the diversity of urban sociability defines and is defined by fragmentary logic. Therefore, the methodological procedures adopted seek to characterize the history of the municipality in its processes of structuring and restructuring and carry out a study on the personal networks of city dwellers of different socio-spatial profiles, through social network analysis techniques, in order to understand the fragmentary dynamics from the spatial practices of city dwellers in Chapecó (SC).(AU)
