Abstract

The Psychosocial Care Center for Alcohol and Drugs (CAPS-AD) is a mental health institution of the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS) that integrates the Psychosocial Care Network. It is focused on the production of reception, care and construction of daily bonds of the individual in problematic use of alcohol and drugs. The operation of this service reflects the principles and guidelines of the Psychiatric Reform, which guides a treatment in freedom and with the user's protagonism, aiming at their autonomy and emancipation. Thus, CAPS is against the prohibitionist model of drug policies, which, historically, reduces drug issues to criminality, causing stigmatization, marginalization and difficulties in accessing the drug users' rights. This conflicting context is reflected in the institutional and professional practices that provide care to this population that is criminalized by law. Considering this context, this qualitative research project aims to investigate the perception of Psychology professionals about their practice and performance in the daily life of the CAPS-AD service. Therefore, a bibliographic review will be carried out in indexed and non-indexed databases about CAPS-AD and the role of psychology in this service. The corpus will be carried out from the application of semi-structured interviews with three psychologists working at CAPS-AD, guided by a script that will allow the interviewee to answer the questions freely. Finally, the data analysis will be organized from the assumptions of Bardin's Content Analysis.
